Rotary Solar Case
I apologise for delays in posting- I have been awaiting feedback but this has been delayed by the normal delays that must be associated with PNG etc. However Living Child's Cases have finally been delivered and are being distributed. Australian Doctors International has reported:
It always difficult getting written feedback ... word of mouth on the 2nd which is a large Health Centre ( almost a rural hospital) is that it is very useful and the have light to deliver babies at night when the power is out. The team unit is very useful in remote sport especially the USB charging ports." From the Phillipines - Rotary Club of Ozamiz North - : "· Does it supply the need of the midwives? Yes, they are so thankful for the supplies and in fact been using it since the turnover. They are usually visited by municipal health workers to do basic medical checkup to pregnant women and the children of their barangay (suburb). Since at their barangay, electricity fluctuates and most of the time they experience brownout and blackout, they were able to use the solar case to light their clinic ang charge units they need to use, such as their phones, the batteries, and the like. They weren’t able to take a video when they first used it but will just send another video when they will use the solar case again. · Is the equipment fit for purpose? Yes, the equipment and medical supplies greatly help with their operation. Since they either experience total blackout or brownout and fluctuation on electricity, the equipment greatly help to provide them with their temporary need for electricity. Aside from that, the medical items were also used when health workers do basic medical check ups to their members of the barangay. At least they now have their own medical supplies when they need it. Even the least items such as thermometer and foetal doppler, it provided great help and assistance to them since now they have their own." Thanks to members of the Rotary E-Club serving Humanity, two Cases have now been delivered to Isabel and the report received is very promising: "The cases are going really well and being used in the highlands in Ysabel. The director of medicine (Province of Ysabel) is in Geneva at the moment and has offered to get a report to us asap" In addition to the above, I have just returned from the Rotary World Convention in Melbourne where was very fortunate to meet up with Lucy Loki of the Nathan Loki Foundation, PNG. (see - https://youtu.be/mtWn8ydTolk and https://www.facebook.com/pnlfpng.page/ )Lucy was there representing Teacher in a Box, see below, but was also very interested in maternal and child health in PNG - we exchanged a great deal of information and demonstrated the Case. Lucy will be visiting Port Moresby shortly and we hope to build a much closer relationship:
