Thanks to recently received contributions by the Rotary Clubs of Mill Point and Ross River the cost of the 10 Cases now being built by Durst has now been fully covered. KNOG have contributed a 75% discount of the cost of their headlights ($200 down to $50) and Bunnings 60% discount on their hand lights ($26.00 down to $10.00).
We still need to raise some $8,000 to cover additional items such as charge cables, AA/AAA batteries, lead lights, printing and transport etc. Plus there remains an $1,200 shortfall on the previous three Cases just shipped covering additional requested items being three foetal dopplers and three solar blankets to accompany those Cases. Donations direct to our tax deductible RAWCS account can be made via the link on our Donations page - thankyou. Three Cases delivered today to Australia Doctors International (www.adi.org.au) and they are now on their way to PNG.
Our three Cases as per below are being delivered to Australian Doctors International, who with the help of Ok Tedi will deliver them to ADI staff in PNG.
ADI requested the inclusion 3 Foetal Dopplers (plus 3 bottles of gel each) and 3 solar blankets. These components have an added cost of $1,800 for which we are still seeking funding. Baby Heart (see - https://babyheart.com.au) has assisted us by reducing their price plus free postage for their Premium Foetal Doppler which are TGA approved, USB rechargeable and have a waterproof sensor. As soon as these arrive plus the Solar Blankets we hope to be away and on our way to PNG. We are still seeking funding for the dopplers and the blankets, so if you can assist hit, the Donate button on our site Thanks to the contributions of:
Our next target is a batch of 10 Cases - 5 to go to PNG via Living Child Inc and 5 potentially to the Solomon Islands. Todate Cases these have been funded to the extent of $6550 thanks to the Rotary Club of Melville WA and contributions by Rotarians. Remember, you don't have to be a hero or brave to help, every little bit helps. You can make a tax deductible contribution via our Funding page. This is a long article by Matt Wade of the SMH, but it highlights the situation in PNG remote health clinics with honest clarity, it reflects the reasons why we are doing what we do. While the article was written in 2018, pre COVID, the situation on the ground has not improved, if anything it is worse. Of course we still need to contend with a few hurdles thrown up by COVID-19, but we have got this far so we will continue. We are so far away from our original pre COVID-19 plan, every step forward is a great blessing as the need has not changed, if anything, it has increased. |
